Abandoned pit bull found in a grocery store parking lot becomes a proud k9 officer

When envisioning police dogs, German Shepherds are the breed that first springs to mind. However, New York hired a different breed of K9 cop to protect the streets.

A stray pit bull Kiah was found abandoned in a supermarket parking lot. Suffering from a severe head injury of unknown origin, rescuers transported her to an area animal clinic.

Here she first encountered Brad Croft. Brad serves as Operations Director for Universal K9, a not for profit group that bravely rescues and provides canine training to dogs from shelters in preparation for work with law enforcement bureaus. Through a grant courtesy of Animal Farm Foundation (AFF) and working with Austin Pets Alive!, Brad endeavored to locate rescued Pits for the initiative.
